Scope of practice

What a JeevaMeds consultation is — and what it isn't

We would rather be clear now than have you expect something we cannot responsibly provide.

Medical emergency? If you are experiencing a medical emergency, severe postpartum bleeding, or chest pain, call 911 (or your local emergency services) immediately. JeevaMeds telehealth services are for non-emergency wellness consultations only.

Who you are speaking with

Our practitioners hold a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), and several hold a postgraduate MD (Ayurveda). They are registered to practise Ayurveda in India. They are not licensed physicians in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Union or any other jurisdiction outside India.

What a consultation covers

  • Traditional Ayurvedic constitutional assessment — your Prakriti (constitution) and Vikriti (current state).
  • Diet, daily routine, sleep, movement and seasonal lifestyle guidance.
  • Guidance on classical formulations that support healthy body structures and functions.
  • Instruction in home routines such as warm oil application and herbal baths.

What it does not cover

  • Diagnosis of Western medical conditions, and interpretation of imaging or labs as diagnosis.
  • Prescribing, altering or discontinuing any pharmaceutical medication.
  • FDA- or DEA-controlled substances, in any circumstance.
  • Emergency, obstetric, surgical, oncology or psychiatric crisis care.
  • Medical certificates, disability documentation or sick notes.

Work alongside your own doctor

Please keep your primary care physician informed, especially during pregnancy, after delivery, while taking prescription medication, or if you have a diagnosed condition. Tell your practitioner about every medication and supplement you take so that guidance can be given safely.
